Thank you Catholic Extension

The Catholic Extension Society made a wonderful presentation at the Diocese of Tucson Priests’ Convocation on the use of Social Media in Ministry. A number of parish facebook pages and websites (missed ours though, http://stjamescoolidge.org, well, not much) were featured by John Bannon and cited an interesting (very funny) comparison (about donuts) of the various links/sites (from  twitter, facebook, youtube, pinterest, linkedin, instagram, google+, flickr, name it…etc). I was surprised if not thrilled seeing my blog https://virgilthegreat.wordpress.com over at the big screen. Man, hows’ that? It was unexpected. My blog has gone through ups and downs. It started as private musings in the blogosphere: check out what’s in a name? page for more info. It wasn’t about hits (though it helps and motivates) but simply expression and glad if I had one or a couple of comments. There’s nothing spectacular, photo and write-up potentially going viral. None of that. For now, it’s polite and courteous and not for profit but who knows I might rant down the road in just about anything from traffic to food to sports to french fries to enchilada plus salsa to the voice to 100 degrees weather in summer time to the leak in the church roof to gas prices to sermon to whatever (which is fair enough under my title: Pastor wearing different hats).

Once again, Thank you Catholic Extension!
