Responses to the video “Why I hate religion but love Jesus”

Perhaps, this comment seems a bit behind in the video gone viral, “why I hate religion but love Jesus.” How I wish I can come up with a poem and rap it to the tune of whatever or have the same line of reasoning with Fr. Bob to make this more appealing in a digitally sound audience but sorry, I don’t have those gifts. The entire content of the video doesn’t really call for a response as there’s nothing new under the sun. I’ve heard the message over a million times before. Not really. That’s an exaggeration. What made it a hit though was the dramatic, thought provoking presentation that sounded almost like a new age prophecy. The message may be summed up plainly as an over- simplification of the ministry of Jesus and his mission. It reflects a huge inability at seeing the bigger picture of the biblical tradition and mysterious unfolding of Christianity that is, the birth of Christian communities, in human history. Amen.
