Today, January 23 is designated as a Day of Penance in the American Catholic Church in observance of the 39th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision of a constitutional right that legalized abortion in the US since 1973. Unable to join fellow Catholics in Tucson for the March much more in the nation’s capital, we had a short walk (not really organized) around the parish premises on a late notice with the Catechism kids, a delight to watch while reciting the rosary. Before the start, a story was told about a mother who was advised by the Doctor to take the unborn child out because of serious health issues. She didn’t heed the Doctor’s call and kept the child instead. Correct me if I’m wrong but, the child, now grown- up landed as a starting QB Tim Tebow of Denver Broncos and a huge fan favorite despite his unconventional style. I personally feel bad when people make fun of him and his winning gesture all because I’m religious, too. You can never know the future of any human being. This is an excellent pro-life story that sets an example to everyone that goodness comes out even in the worst of circumstances. Amen.
