On Ezekiel 34: 1-11

Wednesday on the 20th week in Ordinary Time Year II 2008

Serious complaints about leaders are rampant and widespread in many, if not, all countries. Philippines is no exception. Whether in politics, business, and church matters, people make their voices heard whenever leaders/shepherds were not living to the expectation of the people. This reading from Ezekiel is a clear reminder to everyone that leadership should be an opportunity for service to help better the lives of others and must never be an occasion for profit and gain. The danger happens when individuals in position succumb to the temptation of serving personal interests or the interest of the few, instead of the common good.
Our presence at the 6:30am mass is a sign not only of our deep dependence on God but a sacred and precious time to seek for divine guidance as we embark on a new day. Amen.
